If none of the training mentioned thus far fits your needs, Arizona
OIC also sponsors training at other sites and locations. Here are a few that might be of
interest to you.
Paralegal
Researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist
clients. Researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial
decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal
documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, and wills. Investigates facts and law of
case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly. Files pleadings with
court clerk. Prepares affidavits of documents and maintains document file. May
specialize in litigation, probate, real estate, or divorce law.
Certified Nurses' Assistant
Performs any combination of the following duties in care of patients
in hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility, under the direction of nursing and
medical staff; Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients'
needs. Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients. Serves and collects food trays and feeds
patients requiring help. Transports patients requiring help. Transports patients, using
wheelchair or wheeled cart, or assists patients to walk. Drapes patients for examinations
and treatments. Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance to
prevent bedsores. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers
telephone. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration rates,
food and fluid intake and output, as directed. Cleans, sterilizes, stores, prepares,
and issues dressing packs, treatment trays, and other supplies. May assist in providing
medical treatment and personal care to patients in private home settings and be designated
Home Health Aide.
Truck Driver
Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials
to and from specified destinations: Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of
commercial driving regulations and area roads. Prepares receipts for load picked up.
May collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges. Maintains truck log,
according to state and federal regulations. Maintains telephone or radio contact with
supervisor to receive delivery instructions. May load and unload truck. May inspect
truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs,
tire chains, and spark plugs. May position blocks and tie rope around items to secure
cargo during transit.
Graphic Arts/Offset Printing
The fundamental design of the Graphic Arts component is designed to
equip the trainee with the necessary skills to obtain and maintain employment in the
printing industry. Depth and breadth of instruction is designed for entry level
positions in in-plant, quick print and other printing related businesses in the Phoenix
Metro area. The instruction is made up of material knowledge, machine operation
(several types), material processing, camera operation and film developing.
Work Experience
Work Experience is a short term or part-time employment activity in
the public or private non-profit sectors, which provides the participant with the
opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge, including appropriate work habits and
behaviors, to perform a job in an on-the-job training environment. The activity is
designed for those participants who have never worked or who have been out of the
labor force for an extended period of time such as but not limited to; individuals with
poor work histories, chronically unemployed, high school dropouts, etc. Work Experience
shall be normally accompanied by other training services designed to increase the basic
education and/or occupational skills of the participant.
On-The-Job-Training
The basic philosophy of On-The-Job-Training (OJT) is to expose
students to as much hands-on and work experience as possible. The goal of the program is
to successfully educate students with a basic yet comprehensive knowledge of their
chosen profession, which will later enable the student to meet the growing needs in the
