Administrative office skills
The Arizona Opportunities Industrialization Center is accredited by
the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is recognized as an alternative
Vocational Training Center specializing in the emerging information technology fields.
Arizona OIC specializes in providing the knowledge and developing the skills required
to operate computer hardware and software commonly encountered in the modern
workplace.
Computerized office procedures is intended for students aiming to
work in an office using a wide assortment of clerical skills. Participants are inducted
in office procedures and how clerical staff support the business practices of a department
/ firm and its personnel. We prepare students for office positions in large or small
company and government offices or in schools. Competency, attitudes which promote job
retention, and appropriate communication skills are stressed throughout.
The use of computers is a major part of this program. Students may
enroll with or without any prior experience with a typing or computer keyboard.
Clerical skills and office procedures include basic word processing
and letter formatting, 10-key calculator and computer keypad use, basic office procedures,
instruction in human relations, and problem solving. Also included are typing speed
development, and operation of a multi-phone line system.
Participants in the Word Processing / Microcomputer class will be
expected to attempt the mastery of all the administrative office skills set out
below.
Time schedules will be supplied. Participants are required to
adhere strictly to their schedules unless otherwise directed by an instructor.
Progress reports and schedules will be compiled on each participant.
A final examination will be given at the end of the program.
