Message from Mr. Gene C. Blue, President/CEO

While you are at Arizona OIC we expect you to act and dress in a professional manner. This means that you are:

  • Regular and punctual
  • Well groomed and wearing appropriate office attire.
  • Courteous
  • Neat in all your work
  • Professional
  • You are preparing yourself to enter the job market. We are here to help you in anyway we can. This includes helpful criticism, skill building, and developing your assets. Any problems you are having should be brought to the attention of your counselor or myself.

The aim of OIC is to assist you in becoming employable. In order to accomplish this, you must want to Help Yourself. Without your assistance and cooperation we cannot succeed. You have to want to become employable. Even then we cannot guarantee you a job or training, but working together we will assist you in becoming employed as quickly as possible.

Entering the OIC program is your decision and you have to make the first step by agreeing to the above. If you lack the ambition to work, then there is not an individual at OIC or anywhere else that can help you find a job.

That is what we are here to do--train and find jobs.

If you decide to continue in the enrollment process here are some things to keep in mind during your participation.

      1. Attendance and Punctuality

Regular attendance and punctuality are essential and therefore, mandatory. All absences and tardies are to be avoided.

Excessive absences and tardies may be grounds for termination.

Trainees are to be at assigned places at starting time.

      2. Dress and Appearance

The primary goal of OIC is job placement and in keeping with that goal we must have a dress code. Bathing daily is necessary. Dress during participation must be of a business nature. Jeans, shorts, cut-offs, tank-tops, bare midriffs, tennis shoes, hats, headbands, corn-rows, hair nets, or curlers will not be worn during class time.

This is necessary in the event the opportunity arises that a job interview or job opening occurs while you are in attendance. Remember, that interviews and jobs do not wait on us and we at OIC have to convince the employer that we have the best potential employees available in the Phoenix Labor Market. HELP US TO SELL YOU.

      3. Sign In

The sign-in sheet is like a time card. A time card is an employer’s record of the hours you have worked. The sign-in sheet is good practice and is required to show you were in class.

  • Every morning - Sign-in
  • Every lunch period - Sign-out / Sign-in
  • Every evening - Sign-out
    1. 4. Classroom Conduct

You must conduct yourself in such a manner that your chances for employment would not be hurt by your conduct. The next person entering the classroom could be a prospective employer.

You must conduct yourself so that you do not interfere with the instructor and/or performance of another trainee. Use of profanity, alcohol, drugs, or carrying weapons and fighting in the building will not be tolerated.

Following the suggestions above will increase your chances for success.

      5. Work Area

Each student is responsible for his/her work area. This means that whatever you use during class, you place back where it belongs.

  • Put books back on shelf
  • Turn off equipment when finished
  • Cover up equipment when finished
  • Help keep classroom clean and orderly
